Profile
Stan Gielewski is an award winning versatile artist. Guided by his artist grandfather in childhood, after already taking part in numbers of workshops and art exhibitions, he decided to research and study art on his own terms. Obsessed with the idea of exploring his own styles and keeping whatever he would create pure and truly of his own, Stan rejected the formal artists training.
Following his family, Mr.Gielewski immigrated from Poland to Canada, were he continued creating art in Toronto.
Involved in martial arts and Zen, and experimenting with variety of medium, Stan gradually became interested in the possibility of more and more simple way of expression. First, using just straightforward colors, gradually moved to the area of black and white modern art.
The next step was the idea of turning off ones mind while creating, becoming selfless like during a meditation or a figh. After some research done on his own Stan moved to Japan, where he studied traditional Japanese brush painting while exhibiting and teaching art.
'The sound of a single drop of water in perfect silence is much more powerful than a thunder in a storm of a thousand thunders' - with this belief Stan Gielewski has been searching for the way of expressing complex concepts with minimum use of words.
The variety of styles of artistic creations in which Stan has been involved include oil, water color, acrylic and mixed medium painting, drawing, ink painting, oriental brush painting, airbrush paintings, posters, murals, sculpture, object creating using stones, wood, brass and variety of bits and pieces collected on his 'treasure hunt' trips, antique restoration, photography and writing.
Presently, besides continuing his career in oriental brush painting, Stan is working on variety of side-projects, exploring fusion of the traditional Asian arts with modern art, object creating, designing, computer graphics and also web page design.
